Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)- On June 15, 2012, the Secretary of Homeland Security announced that certain foreign nationals who came to the United States as children would be eligible for temporary protection from removal and work permission subject to renewal.

On November 20, 2014, President Obama’s Executive Order extended the temporary protection and work permission under DACA from 2 years to 3 years.  Also, beginning on February 18, 2015, USCIS will accept DACA applications from people of any current age who entered the United States before the age of 16 and are otherwise DACA eligible.
